About

Hello,

I'm Jay! I am a US veteran born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, where I started my career path by joining the US Air Force. This experience provided me with invaluable lessons and a global perspective, and I wanted to do more. After the military, I worked as a government contractor in Iraq and Afghanistan, directly with the US Marines. This real-world experience paved the way for my subsequent career in the corporate world as an engineer when I returned to the States. I owe a big thank you to the US Air Force for equipping me with the skills that shaped my path.

In 20 years spent in the IT sector, I've worn many hats, from starting as a helpdesk tech resetting Solaris server passwords to becoming a Cybersecurity Architect. I once took a contracting position at the lowest negotiated hourly rate on the 10-person team, but I had more work responsibilities than all the other members.

However, lessons in IT should not have to be learned the hard way. While each of us has unique career stories and sensitive details regarding financial matters, we want to keep this information private from everyone. I've had lows, such as being fired from a contract job for reporting on-the-job wrongdoing to jumping for joy after successfully negotiating a salary heavily in my favor.

I find joy in supporting others on the same journey I've once been on. My goal is to bring happiness and empowerment to your career.
